RR:TR 06 Marcus Drusus

October 1st, 2017

06_M_Drusus.jpg

The third in our trilogy on the Tribune of the Plebs! This week it is the little known Marcus Drusus. He is only known for sparking the social war in which Marius lost favour and Sulla won a grass crown.  But what is the story behind this man?

Also: find out what happened in the battle of Arausio, how the tribune Satininus met his end and how of if Drusus was involved in these events!

RR:TR 05 Gaius Gracchus

September 24th, 2017

05_G_Gracchus.jpg

Part 2 of our Tribune of the Pleb Trilogy is none other than Gaius Gracchus! He watched his brother's dreams come to nothing as he was beaten to death in the forum. With a chair leg. That kind of thing leaves an impression on a young lad. It's time to get REVENGE! HE WILL KILL THEM ALL - [Dingggggg] aaaahhhh. lovely tuning fork of calmness; it always makes everything better...

RR:TR 04 Tiberius Gracchus

September 16th, 2017

04_T_Gracchus.jpg

The first our Tribune of the Pleb Trilogy: Tiberius Gracchus. The political world goes from functioning to Julius Caesar pulling down the republic in 100 years. It starts here, with a rich young senator who notices that things in Rome are a tad unfair. Surely those super-rich would be willing to be reasonable and make sure the average citizen has enough to get by.... Surely. They won't fight tooth and nail at every step of the way will they? Why are they tying strips round their heads and breaking off chair legs? Oh dear...

RR:TR 03 Marius

July 2nd, 2017

Marius is the man before Sulla who was the man before Caesar. The fall of the Republic often is cited to have begun here, but why? What did this son of a farmer have to offer besides neat horses and a funny accent? Why was he obsessed with 7 eagles? Why did he hate Sulla and why, if he was such a great general, was he so rubbish at not being one?

Find out in this special episode of Roman Republic Totalus Rankium!

RR:TR 02 Sulla

April 22nd, 2017

Who is this man who appears at the start of Julius Caesars biography? The villain of Caesars childhood? Or does he have more of a story? Yes! He does, he is regarded by many as the most blood-thirsty man in all of Roman history. Does he deserve this title? Or was he misunderstood? possibly, but then, he did measure his death count in litres... that doesn't bode well...
